Avalon is a neighborhood
BYOB offering casual dining in a stylish–upscale environment. Owners
John & Michelle Brandt Lee and their staff strive to create a warm
and inviting atmosphere for every guest. In cooler weather, guests
enjoy sitting by the romantic wood-burning stone fireplace and in
warmer weather, they dine by the fountain in the covered outdoor
garden. An upstairs dining room provides a quieter atmosphere and
private dining for parties of up to 35.
In the kitchen,
John Brandt-Lee creates Rustic Italian cuisine using quality ingredients
and simple preparations. His menu changes
seasonally to emphasize produce from local farms including, Blue
Moon Acres, Shellbark Hollow & Pete's Produce.
Avalon has quickly
made the “Favorite Restaurant List” of numerous
food critics, including Rich Pawlek of ML Magazine, Lisa Monty of
County Lines Dining In Style and The Philadelphia Inquirer's John
V.R. Bull & Katherine Quillman. Joy Manning of Philadelphia Magazine
gave the restaurant a B+ for food and an A for service.In his review,
Philadelphia Inquirer Food Critic Craig Laban wrote, "...Maybe you
can't please everyone all the time, but Avalon tries at virtually
every turn...", Eric Ruth of Delaware News Journal said, "...Right
away, warm greetings roll your way. The smiles of staffers add bright
charm to an already charming room, and their welcoming words bring
an air of cordial civility that too many fine restaurants lack." Avalon
received Main Line Today magazine's award for “Best Fish Dishes” and
a Zagat rating of "Excellent" for 7 years.
