Avalon's newly-created chef's table sits alongside the open kitchen,
where diners can talk with Chef John Brandt-Lee or Chef Marco Passante
and watch them create their special meal. Instead of offering little
tastings of things already on the menu, our chefs offer a family-style
Italian feast, tailored to diners' tastes.
To begin your culinary journey for the night, we will discuss your groups likes and dislikes and match the meal to the wine(s) you brought to his BYOB. Dinner typically begins with selections from our extensive artisanal cheese and hand-carved charcuterie table. Then, rather than a stuffy tasting menu, our chefs will prepare courses designed with your tastes and beverages in mind -- pasta, fish and meat courses or any combination you and your guests prefer. If you are looking for dishes based on a specific ingredient, no problem, we can do that too.
The meal is served, and priced, family style. The cost is $75 per person. Since the chef's table at Avalon has been unveiled, it has become one of the most popular seats in the house, attracting families, foodies and even chefs and restaurateurs. Mainline Today Magazine named the Avalon's chef table "best seat in the house" in their 2011 Best of Magazine. Advanced reservations ensure availability. The wooden chef's table is custom-designed by Philadelphia Block & Board.
